Huichol Art & Jewelry The Huichol Collection – Art that Makes a Difference
The Huichol Indians (pronounced Wee-chol) are a shamanic culture of Uto-Aztecan people inhabiting the remote Sierra Madre Mountain range in Mexico that despite threats from outside influences have miraculously survived into modern times. It is the rich Huichol cultural legacy of native spirituality, symbolism, music, folklore, plant knowledge and profound religious insight that spills over into the beautiful artwork that they make.
The collection that we offer is produced by the Huichol Center (www.huicholcenter.com), a non-profit organization that is funding projects in all areas of Huichol life to help the people integrate into modern society without being destroyed by it. A significant portion of the price of these pieces goes directly back to the Huichol.
Each piece is an exquisite arrangement of tiny glass beads that is simply impossible to accurately describe in words or even pictures for that matter. Each item pictured is one-of-a-kind and once sold, will be removed from the site. If your selection was sold the previous evening, we will notify you and ask for your alternate choice.
