Afrique - African Trance Smoking Blend A potent combination of traditional, ritual smoking herbs used in Southern Africa. The base is the traditional Bushman smoking herb, Tarchonanthus camphoratus used as a narcotic ritual smoke to which is added “Imphepho” (Helichrysum odoratissimum) a smoke employed by traditional healers (sangomas) to induce trance states, and also valued for its analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and anti-microbial properties.
To contribute synergy to the blend, “Wildegansie” (Sutherlandia frutescens), “Wild dagga” (Leonotis leonurus) and “African wormwood” (Artemisia afra) have been added. The “Wildegansie” is revered as among the most important multi-purpose medicinal plants in Southern Africa. Traditionally the leaves are smoked to relieve extreme pain and have sedative qualities. Workers in Namaqualand smoke the foliage as a cannabis substitute. The Khoi, San and Nama peoples use the plant as an extremely effective adaptogen which boosts the immune system and combats stress. The “Wild dagga” is smoked by the Hottentots and as an alternative to cannabis. The “African Wormwood" adds it’s narcotic, analgesic and relaxant effects to the blend.
